Occasional forgetfulness is normal. However, progressive decline in memory, balance problems, or personality changes that worsen over months are clinical signs of neurodegeneration and require specialist assessment.
While genetics play a role, managing vascular health (blood pressure/diabetes) and staying physically active significantly lowers the risk of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.
Most cases are identified within 1-2 visits. Complex cases needing specialized PET scans or sleep studies may take up to 3 weeks for a final clinical roadmap.
The difference is progression. Normal ageing is stable or improves with rest; neurodegenerative disease worsens over months.
