Consultant Neurologist at KIMS Neuroscience, Secunderabad, Hyderabad. MBBS, MD (General Medicine), DrNB (Neurology), PDF (Neuromuscular Disorders). The department's dedicated neuromuscular disorders subspecialist, with a specific clinical and research focus on autoimmune neurology and NMOSD.
Dr. Puppala Sri Sai Srujana is a Consultant Neurologist at KIMS Neuroscience, Secunderabad, with subspecialty training in neuromuscular disorders and a specific clinical and research focus on autoimmune neurology. She completed her DrNB in Neurology from KIMS Secunderabad — the National Board of Examinations superspeciality credential — and her post-doctoral fellowship in neuromuscular disorders at the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Thiruvananthapuram, one of India's premier neurology institutes. She is the first consultant at KIMS with post-doctoral fellowship-level neuromuscular training.
Her clinical practice covers the full spectrum of neuromuscular disorders: myasthenia gravis (including juvenile myasthenia gravis), inflammatory myopathies (polymyositis, dermatomyositis, anti-synthetase syndrome, immune-mediated necrotising myopathy, inclusion body myositis), peripheral neuropathies (GBS, CIDP, hereditary neuropathies), Hirayama disease, and motor neuron disease. Alongside her neuromuscular practice, she has developed a specific research focus on autoimmune neurology — particularly neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD), autoimmune encephalitis, and inflammatory demyelinating disorders of the central nervous system.
Her NMOSD research has been recognised at both national and international levels. She received the Dr. Surat Mohan Das Award for Best Paper in Autoimmune Neurology at the 2022 Asian Oceanian Congress of Neurology (AOCN) and the Indian Academy of Neurology (IANCON) conference in New Delhi, and the Prof. M Gourie Devi Award for Best Paper in Neuromuscular Disorders at IANCON 2025 in Varanasi. Her NMOSD research abstract was accepted for presentation at the American Academy of Neurology Annual Meeting 2024 in Denver, Colorado. She has presented research at international conferences including the World Muscle Society 2025 in Vienna, the Asia Pacific Stroke Conference, and multiple Indian Academy of Neurology annual meetings.
She holds certified training in epilepsy from Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia (international certification), and from the Indian Epilepsy Society, as well as a certification in headache from IAN-API. These credentials extend her practice beyond her subspecialty into general neurology, covering stroke, epilepsy, and headache alongside her primary neuromuscular and autoimmune focus.
